A Pomegranate Tale

a pale, yearning seed
rested
behind a delicate wall,
exiled from the rest,

Then one morning,
the pomegranate’s rind

Light entered.
The membranes loosened.

And there they were—
countless crimson seeds,
clustered close,
held together
in one ripening fruit.

The seed discovered
it had never left the womb.
