A Mere Speck / 微塵

Before first light
I enter the ward.

Monitors pulse.
A metal cart rattles past.

Tiny bodies in glass boxes,
suspended
between hope and despair.

I move quietly around them,
holding my breath,
trying
to stay afloat.

In the room’s constant hum,
I am a mere speck of dust,
too small
to change a thing.

I hear
my own weariness—
near the edge
of what I can bear.

A deep exhale.

I keep watch
beside them.

Still not certain—
for now,
I stay.


微塵

天還未亮,
我走進病房。

監測器一閃一閃,
一輛金屬推車
從我身旁嘎嘎經過。

透明的保溫箱裡,
一個個小小的身體
懸在
希望與絕望之間。

我輕輕在他們身邊走動,
屏住呼吸,
勉力不讓自己
被這一切淹沒。

在病房不止息的嗡鳴裡,
我只是一粒微塵,
渺小得
改變不了什麼。

我聽見
自己的疲憊——
已逼近
無法承受的邊緣。

我長長呼出一口氣。

仍守在
他們身旁。

沒有答案。

只是暫且,
留下來。
