Silent Communion

I sat by the lakeside
in Bayfield
on an old wooden deck,
where we used to watch
the sunset together,
his arm wrapping around my shoulder
in an unspoken bond

And I thought of him now,
as the gentle waves
washing up the shore
and the golden rays reaching out
through the thick clouds
of sadness,
to feel his pure
and freely flowing presence
holding me again
in silent communion
