Wishful Thinking

Love, comfort, security—
you gave me all. Only now,
with you gone, I see
how tightly I cling.

All my words about letting go
were only words—
how easily I spoke them,
I softly confess.

I know it doesn’t make sense,
as you are now in another realm.
But it is time to come home,
for you are away for too long.

A candle flame beneath a full moon and dark tree silhouette in black-and-white ink wash.
