And Just Like That / 一剎那間

A cardboard box
left by the curb
becomes a castle, a ship,
armor for a small warrior
who knows nothing of rubbish.

A fallen branch
is a sword, a wand;

a long one,
a horse galloping
across an empty field.

Brown, brittle leaves
are gathered into a golden heap,
then scattered again—

arms flung wide
as they rise into autumn air,

and for one breathless moment
the dead leaves are birds,
the child a magician,

and just like that,
the overlooked world
is full of wonder.


一剎那間

一個紙箱
被丟在路旁,
成了城堡、小船,
也成了小勇士的盔甲——
他還不知道,
世上竟有垃圾。

一根樹枝
是劍,是魔杖;

長一點的,
便成了一匹馬,
奔馳在空曠的原野。

乾枯的落葉
堆成一片金黃,
又被撒向空中——

雙臂張開,
看它們飛進秋風。

就在這一剎那,
枯葉成了鳥,
孩子成了魔法師,

而那被忽略的世界
忽然充滿了驚喜。
