Moon river,
quietly cradling
the loamy earth—
who is this innocent girl
curling in my arms,
her body trembling
as we fall and fall
toward the depths of grief
we called our own?
Tell me,
what is it that unfurls her,
that heals her,
that sings her into wholeness—
a lover’s heart?
River, bountiful giver,
water that flows
from the spring of Venus—
the water of life.
