If through the wind of night
that howls around me,
I could ride atop
the crashing waves,
cast off the unforeseen yoke
that binds me,
as I lay your ashes in
your final resting place—
with you, there is love,
joy and sorrow,
and on the horizon, a new dawn.
Will I overcome my doubt,
come what may tomorrow,
as my grieving heart sets sail,
hearkening to what waits beyond?
